2010 Prospct Christian Lombard Visits Iowa

2010 offensive lineman Christian Lombard picked a good game to come to Iowa; the Hawkeyes dominant 38-16 win over Wisconsin. That was a game that featured excellent play from the Hawkeye offensive line, something that Lombard noticed...

Christian Lombard, a 6-foot-5 inch, 280-pound offensive lineman from Palatine, Illinois was in Iowa City this past weekend to take in the Hawkeye game against Wisconsin.

He is a Class of 2010 prospect that has several scholarship offers, including one from Iowa.

"We got in early, had breakfast and then went over to the Iowa football facilities," Lombard said.   "I know the lay of the land there pretty well as I have been there a few times.  I was about to talk a lot with the coaches and went over and watched the game.  That was impressive."

Lombard picked a great game to take in, as Iowa's offensive line put on a clinic against Wisconsin.

"The offensive line was really good Saturday.  They opened up some huge holes for Shonn Greene and they were just really impressive on both sides of the line of scrimmage.  I liked seeing that."

"It was also good to be back there; Iowa seems to have a family atmosphere on campus; I just feel at home there and really like it a lot."

Lombard is being recruited by Iowa Running Backs coach Lester Erb.

"I was able to speak with Coach Erb while on the visit.  We talk on a weekly basis and I really have a good relationship with him.  Some of our conversations are small talk, about football as well as life.

Most of the schools recruiting Lombard are looking at him as a tackle, and the list of offers is impressive; Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Arizona, Duke and Illinois head the list of offers.

"Yes, tackle is what people are telling me with regards to what I will play at the college level.  I am familiar with blocking out of zone schemes, and our offense is a spread, too.  So I am very familiar with the types of schemes Iowa likes to use."

Lombard's signing day won't come for another 15-plus months, and while some players like to get this decision out of the way early, it will come down to what feels right for Lombard, regardless of the time.

"Whenever I feel ready to make the choice, I will go with it.  When I become 100 percent confident in the school that I like, I will make my decision then.

Lombard will make a trip to Michigan for this upcoming week, but he does not have any visits planned beyond that at this time.
