Lattimore, a dual-threat blocking/receiving tight end out of Gaither high school made the call today, giving Coach Rick Kaczenski a call.
Q: What went into your decision?
Justin Lattimore: This goes back to the summer when me and Coach Kaczenski would keep in contact with emails and phone calls. I had a great relationship to him for a couple months. He would describe the campus, the atmosphere and stuff to me, all that. I went on their website, looking at their facilities, Iowa City, everything. I was comfortable with the decision, so I made the decision.
Q: Have you set a date to come out and visit?
Lattimore: I’m going up on the 13th of November, I’ll be down there for the Purdue game.
Q: For those who haven’t seen you play, what’s your style of play?
Lattimore: I can catch and block. I’m very physical at my position, with my size. I’m very athletic and quick for my position. I’ve got it all.
Q: Was the history of Iowa’s great tight ends a factor?
Lattimore: They use their tight ends a lot, they have a great tight end tradition at Iowa.
Q: What other offers did you have?
Q: How is the season going so far, obviously Iowa liked the senior film?
Lattimore: The season’s going great. I have 18 catches for about 340 yards and two touchdowns. 19.5 average per catch.
Q: What sort of offense do you run?
Lattimore: We’re a run-first team. We run out of the I formation.
Q: Coach Kaczenski can be a real energetic guy, did you get that sense during recruitment?
Lattimore: Yeah. He’s called me once a week ever since they could call recruits, September something. He’s been calling once a week, keeping in touch, keeping me interested in Iowa. He’s been keeping me on board.
