Chambers recaps Hawkeye visit

Keensen Chambers spent the weekend in Iowa City, on his first official visit. See what he had to say about the visit, Iowa's win over Purdue, and his future plans in this premium recruiting update.

Q: Take me through your visit, what'd you get up to?

Keensen Chambers: They took me to the basketball game. I got to see them play Charles Southern, when I was a junior. I was with some other recruits too, everything went well. I went to the game, and the fans were just amazing, the greatest fans you could possibly have, it was a great experience. The game was a good game against Purdue. They got me off my seat, even though it was freezing cold. I enjoyed talking with the coaches, building relationships, stuff like that.

Q: Did you talk mostly football?

Chambers: They talked about football but life, as well. They said you want to be happy wherever you go. If I choose to go there, I'm going to be there for the next 4-5 years. They talked about how I'm going to be a great player, and how I would definitely fit into their system.

Q: The defensive ends had a big impact on the game.

Chambers: I definitely paid attention to them. I saw how their scheme is different, and I would probably be playing a more athletic position, the right end I think. I spoke with him a lot. They were making tackles, sacks, they had a great impact on the game.

Q: Did anything surprise you on the visit?

Chambers: I knew the fans were going to be great, but I didn't know there were going to be that many people. I was just kind of overwhelmed by it. People came from the whole state to see the game, it seemed like, just to see the game.

Q: You're hoping to enroll in January, so you're probably coming down to the end soon. Where does this visit put you?

Chambers: I think it puts them close to the top of my list, if not at the very top of the list. I want to get the rest of these visits out of the way, take all five of my visits, then I'll know for sure where I'm going to do. Whether it's Iowa or anywhere else, I'm definitely going to know by late December.

Q: How many more visits do you have left?

Chambers: I have four left, so I have Tulane lined up and UCONN lined up so far.

Q: You're hoping to enroll in January, is that mostly for academics or football stuff?

Chambers: Mostly football, I want to get into the weight room, spring practice, compete for my position. Everything's good for me at
