"You know, I don't think he will (play against the Illini)," Lickliter said on a teleconference Saturday morning. "He was up moving on it today, but, it just...I feel awful for him. We need him. We'd like to have him as a team. But I feel bad for him, too.
"I know they're doing everything I don't know. They just respond differently, I guess. So, hopefully, we can still keep making progress. He's better, but I don't think he'll play. We worked out this morning and he didn't work out with us."
Tate said on Tuesday and again on Thursday of this week that he didn't feel he'd be able to play by Sunday. The senior captain from Chicago started the first 16 games of the season, averaging 7.4 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds. He suffered the injury eight minutes into the game against Minnesota Jan. 8 in Iowa City.
