Hawks Offer California Wide Receiver

Speculation has run wild the past few days after a published report that former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad had informed the Hawkeye staff of a prospect. HTO.com was informed by more than one source on the situation the past couple days, and has the exclusive report on the Hawks offering of this Calfornia speedster!

Last Friday, Coach Ferentz and staff officially mailed a scholarship offer to WR Tyler Fanucchi. After missing out on a few of their top wide receiver prospects in December, they were able to catch onto this west coast speed demon thanks to a tip from former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.

HTO.com caught up with TheInsiders.com West Coast Recruiting Anyalst, Greg Biggins (also a columnist for Student Sports), to gain his perspective on Claremont, California's own Tyler Fanucchi.

"He's a good receiver prospect," Greg stated. "He has good hands, and runs precise routes. He wasn't able to run the forty in our Nike Camp this past summer due to a pulled hamstring, but it was not hard to tell he was an overlooked prospect. He showed me that he was a Pac Ten type of talent. It's been a phenomenal year in California for wide receivers this year so it would not be hard for one, like Tyler, to slip under the cracks."

Tyler has been offered by Boise State and Iowa. He also has been receiving interest from Nevada and Washington State; to go along with previous interest from Oregon.

Tyler will be making his official visit to Iowa City on January 17th.

HTO.com will have a story available on Monday for all Total Access subscribers putting Hawk fans more in touch with Tyler Fanucchi.
