Brust's Iowa Trip Put on Hold

Ben Brust was set to visit the Iowa campus again this week, but he put the trip on hold for family reasons. HN.com Senior Writer Rob Howe caught up with the 2010 guard with a Hawkeye offer on Monday night and filed this report.

Ben Brust was hoping an Iowa trip this week would serve as the next step in picking a college. Then, Mother Nature stepped in.

The 2010 guard and his family welcomed a new member this week when his sister-in-law gave birth. Brust and his mother switched plans from campus visit to maternity ward.

"We were going to head out (to Iowa) this week, but the baby came early," Brust said on Monday night. "I'm still coming to Iowa soon."

Brust said that "soon" meant by the end of June.

Last time we spoke to the Illinois product, he had offers from Iowa, Northwestern and Butler. Virginia and Stanford also were showing a lot of interest.

"Nothing has changed on that front," Brust said. "Same schools, I just need to take a closer look at all of them."

Brust said that he was not close to making a decision until he took another round of visits to his five favorites. He planned on getting to Virginia and Stanford, even though they had yet to offer a scholarship.
