Q&A with LB Mike Klinkenborg

Mike Klinkenborg is one of three prep linebackers set to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes next fall. MidwestRecruit's Chris Pool spoke to Mike to learn more on his decision and how a previous family member's recruitment helped him in his own.

"Why did you pick the University of Iowa."

"Because of the engineering school and I always wanted to be a Hawk."

Which position will you play for Iowa?

"I'm going to play Mike (Middle) linebacker as of now but who knows once I get into camp."

Which member of the Iowa coaching staff is recruiting you?

"Resse Morgan."

What do you hope to accomplish as a true freshman?

"I'll probably red shirt. I'm going to hit the weights hard and get bigger and faster."

What was you most memorable high school football moment?

"The fact that we were district champs for three years in a row is probably my biggest highlight."

Who has been the biggest influence in your life or name a person that you look up to and admire."

"My brother (Monte Klinkenborg) because of his work ethic. He plays football for South Dakota State and he's taught me a lot."

What advice would you give an underclassman that will be going through the recruiting process in the future?

"Take your time and do what's best for yourself."
