Ngoumou Says He's Parting Ways with Iowa

Stephane Ngoumou, who signed with Iowa in the 2009 recruiting class, attended Milford Academy this fall to pick up his grades. He then verbally committed to the Hawks for the 2010 Class. A report on Tuesday said he is no longer considering a career in Iowa City.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - News hit on Tuesday that a second receiver thought to be coming back to Iowa next fall would be going in another direction. reported last week that DeMarco Paine would not being returning to Iowa. ESPN ran an update on Tuesday that Stephane Ngoumou also would not be back.

Ngoumou attended prep school at Milford Academy this fall after failing to gain admittance to Iowa due to academics. He signed with the Hawkeyes as part of the 2009 recruiting class out of Wootton High in Rockville, MD, where he caught 71 balls for more than 1,100 yards as a senior. He spent last summer in Iowa City before it came down that he needed to raise his grades.

While at Milford, Ngoumou verbally committed to Iowa as part of its 2010 Class. According to the Milford website, the receiver caught one pass this season for seven yards.

Ngoumou told ESPN that he wishes to stay on the East Coast and is looking at Virginia and Rutgers.
