Linn-Mar Lineman Officially Visiting Hawks

David Parry has played a major role in the resurgence of the Linn-Mar football program through hard work and determination. Those assets are paying off for him as the 2010 O-Lineman is receiving interest from some BCS schools. The local product is in Iowa City this weekend for an official visit. Learn about his recruitment in this HI.com update.

Linn-Mar football has dug itself out of the Mississippi Valley Conference basement the last two seasons and offensive lineman David Parry stood at the forefront of the resurrection of a once-proud program.

"He played an unbelievable role in that," Lions Head Coach Bob Forsyth said. "He's very goal-oriented and that rubbed off on other kids. He's been a leader in the weight room and on the football field. He's been a big part of it all."

Parry's hard work is paying off. The academic dynamo is the target of most of the Ivy League schools and some bigger programs now are entering the picture.

Parry is officially visiting Iowa this weekend and plans on traveling out to Stanford in a week. He still is waiting on scholarship offers from those two schools, Forsyth said.

"We're just waiting to see how this weekend goes," Forsythe said. "His recruitment has gone really well. He's just an outstanding kid with incredible grades. He's got Navy and the Ivy schools after him and now he has a chance to look at Iowa and Stanford.

"He's just been a pleasure to be around."

Linn-Mar reached the Class 4A playoffs this season after winning a divisional championship. The Lions finished 9-2.
