Wellman Mid-Prairie's Miller Grabs Hawk Offer

Famous for offering late scholarships to in-state players, Iowa pulled it off again Monday night when Wellman (Iowa) Mid-Prairie athlete accepted a ride. Miller is believed to be the 21st verbal commitment in the Hawkeyes 2010 recruiting class, which can begin signing national letters of intent on Wednesday.

According to Wellman (Iowa) Mid-Prairie Athletic Director Don Showalter, senior athlete Tanner Miller accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Iowa, thus becoming the 21st commitment in the 2010 recruiting class.

Miller turned away a full-side offer from Northern Iowa and preferred walk-on opportunities from Nebraska and Iowa State to join the Hawkeyes, Showalter said.

Missouri offered the 400-meter state champion hurdler a scholarship for track and he was garnering interest from basketball programs as well.

Hawkeye Insider has set up an interview with Miller for this afternoon and we will bring you the full story later in the day.
