Iowa Eying PG from Oak Ridge Military Academy

Oak Ridge Military Academy Point Guard Michael Neal has been hearing from mid-majors for a while, but recently some BCS schools have shown interest. Iowa, Purdue and others plan on evaluating Neal more during this summer's AAU season.

Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery's eyes are set on Jacob Lawson at Oak Ridge Military Academy. He also is watching another 2011 prospect at the school.

Point guard Michael Neal holds scholarship offers from several mid-major schools and BCS programs are showing more interest, ORMA Coach Stan Kowalewski said. Iowa, Purdue, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Clemson and Marquette are among the high-majors keeping an eye on the 6-foot-2, 175-pound floor general.

"He's an athletic guard that can lead a break," Kowalewski said. "He can get to the rim in traffic. He's working on the three. That's the area he needs to improve."

Neal ran at the Carolina Challenge in March. Here's a report from Scout.com's Dave Telep:

A wrist injury cost him a portion of his junior season. On Saturday, Neal likely turned himself into a CAA priority recruit. He's a hustler who can drill it or slash with effectiveness.
