Hawkeyes Land 2011 Texas Athlete

Iowa received its second verbal commitment in as many days on Wednesday when 2011 Texas Athlete Austin Vincent said yes to the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-1, 165-pounder became the fifth known verbal in his class.

After locking down in-state talent Henry Krieger-Coble a day earlier, the Iowa football program pulled Austin Vincent out of Texas. The athlete from Desoto High became the fifth known verbal commitment in the 2011 Class.

Vincent has flown under the radar a bit as he plays for a talent prep program.

Here's our Scout.com scouting report on him:

He is over six foot but is not very thick. He does a great job of getting open and beating the coverage. Tends to catch the ball too close to the body, but he holds onto the ball. His lack of size does not let him bounce off of tackles. He does not have a lot of speed, he gets extra yards by not hesitating once he catches the ball. Seems to get up for big plays around the end zone.

Here's his scout.com profile, where you can find his junior highlight film down the left hand side of the page.

Here's a Nike Scouting Combine report at which Vincent turned some heads.

I've left messages for Vincent and hope to have a story on him soon.
