"Currently I'm hearing from Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Central Michigan, and Oregon," said Deback to HawkeyeInsider.com. "Everyone is looking equal right now. I don't have any favorites at this time. I just really want a good campus and a great college town. I do not mind being far away from home and I do not mind being close to home. It does not really affect me much."
The soon-to-be junior might not have any offers yet, but figures to be a hot commodity this coming season. This summer he has camped at Wisconsin and Michigan State, a team that he has grown up watching in the Deback household.
"I'm actually a Michigan State Spartan fan, but my family loves it that I'm getting attention from all over the Big 10," said Deback. "It's great to be hearing from Iowa. They are a great school and have a great football team. They are a high D-1 class school. They definitely take pride in football and what they do there."
Even with Deback's size at the high school level, the 2012 prospect is not quick to be content with his game. His summer has been full of workouts, not only trying to improve his college stock, but also for the Charlotte Orioles.
"I'm working on keeping my head up on blocks. I have a tendency to keep my head down when I block and I lose some of my power," said Deback. "Also, I'm working on looking at the second level. I get the primary block down but after that I need to improve on who I need to block next to get that touchdown block."
Deback has plans to make a decision sometime next summer. HawkeyeInsider.com will be tracking the 2012 prospect through the year and let Iowa fans know of updates to his recruiting.
