Miller trying to schedule official to Iowa

Since de-committing from Kansas in May, it has been no secret that three-star back Darrian Miller has seen some major love from Iowa.'s Josh Harvey caught up with the Blue Springs (MO) product to get the latest on his recruiting and if he is planning a visit to Iowa City.

With Iowa taking more than likely two running backs in the Class of 2011, the position has been a hot button topic for fans the last few weeks. On Thursday afternoon, caught up with one of their targets in Blue Spring HS (MO) product Darrian Miller. The three-star back is still trying to narrow down schools after de-committing from Kansas in May.

"I have been hitting various camps here and there, but I can't really say too much has been happening on the recruiting front right now," said Miller. "The next couple weeks though things are supposed to pick up. I would say that I'm pretty wide open. I really can't think of just one school that sticks out in my mind as my favorite. I haven't really had a chance to sit down and evaluate things. Getting ready for my senior season has been taking a lot of my time. There are definitely teams that I think about, but no one in particular that sticks out.

Miller currently holds offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He is also still hearing from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Illinois. At this point, everyone that has offered the soon to be senior is being considered. Even Kansas, who he once committed to before re-opening things up.

"I would say Iowa is the hardest one recruiting me out of the whole bunch. I have been staying in contact with Coach Ferentz a lot and I check in with Coach Johnson from time to time," said Johnson. "I feel really wanted when he (Coach Ferentz) is staying in contact with me. I haven't even met him in person and he is still wanting me to stay in touch with him over the phone and stuff."

Miller hasn't been able to make the 300 mile trip to Iowa City yet, but it's in the planning stages.

"I'm trying to get a scheduled official visit there in the fall. I want to definitely check out the campus and stuff," said Miller. "There is no timetable on a decision. If I feel comfortable with a school then I will commit. It could be before the season, during the season, or after. I don't know. I just want to feel comfortable about it. I would like to take a few visits, including Iowa."

Miller rushed for 2,797 yards on 309 carries scoring 37 touchdowns in his team's class 6 championship runner-up season as a junior. He was named Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year for his efforts. Something he is looking to follow up on this season.

"I'm just trying to get out to camps and stuff like that. For me camps aren't just a recruiting thing, but a chance for me to learn and to work on my game," said Miller. "I'm hitting the gym hard and just making sure that I stay in shape."

Miller is teammates with three-star cornerback Bernard Thomas. Thomas has offers Arkansas, Kansas, and Tulsa, but is also hearing from Iowa as well. Many fans have wondered if the two could be a package deal, but it seems that Miller is downplayed the possibility.

"Its been brought up before, once or twice, but it's not exactly going to be part of my decision. We have talked since I have an offer from Kansas and he has an offer from Kansas, but I don't know," said the 2011 running back. will closely monitoring Miller's recruitment and inform Iowa fans if anything breaks.
