Iowa still in the mix for Kouandjio?

After snagging 4-star guard Jordan Walsh, Iowa's offensive line could be set for years if the Hawks snagged 5-star offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio. The Scout.com No. 1 nationally ranked OT talked with HI's Josh Harvey last night.

Scout.com nationally ranked No. 1 offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio isn't exactly ducking the media, but the senior isn't talking with reporters as much as he was early in the recruiting process.

"It gets really tiring after a while," stated Kouandjio to HawkeyeInsider.com.

The 6-foot-7, 291-pound Kouandjio offer list is many, but still considers himself pretty wide open.

When asked if he was still considering Iowa due to the tradition of putting numerous lineman in the league, he replied: "Yup, exactly! I'm definitely still considering Iowa. Ever since this time last year they have been recruiting me pretty hard."

The DeMatha Stags finished the season 11-1 last year, losing their last game of the year. They will open play up on Saturday, September 4th against Loyola Blakefield (MD).

"Practice have been tough. A lot of running and conditioning as always, but you get used to working that hard after some time," said the senior.

In a previous Scout.com article, Kouandijo said he would be visiting Alabama in the fall, but otherwise his other four official visits are wide open.

"Alabama will be in my top five, but I don't know about the other schools just yet," Kouandjio said. "I would like to try to take my official visits in the fall because that is the best time. I know a lot of our games are going to get in the way of that. We play some games on Fridays and some on Saturdays."
