Moore Talks About His Future at K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Dallas Skyline Linebacker and K-State Commit talks about his Kansas State future and relationships with the coaching staff.

Mike Moore, who played at Skyline High School in Dallas, was one of the recruits who accepted a grayshirt and will join the football program and the university in January. Moore plans to take his first trip of the season this weekend to Manhattan to watch the Wildcats battle Texas A&M.

"I've been working out constantly," said Mike Moore. "I'm taking six hours at Eastfield Community College. It will be nice to get away for the weekend to watch the game and be with my teammates."

One of Moore's former teammates at Skyline, Marquel Bryant, is one the team as a true freshman. Bryant has yet to see any action through the first nine games and is a likely redshirt candidate. Moore has been watching Widcat games from his home in Dallas and pays close attention to what the defense is doing.

"I played defensive end in high school," Moore said, "but Kansas State recruited me at outside linebacker. When I watch I like to try to pick up on some things I might be able to do in a particular situation.

"Overall, they've played well, especially against the run. I like how Coach Cosh changes things around to keep the offense guessing. They've played tough against some of the top offensive teams in the Big 12. With Coach Cosh as the defensive coordinator, they're going in the right direction."

Moore says he is currently at 6-foot-1, 220-pounds. He stays in close contact with Kansas State coaches, Michael Smith and Chris Cosh. In addition to the defensive coordinator, Cosh will also serve Moore as his position coach.

"We have a close relationship," Moore said of Cosh. "I'm looking forward to working with him this spring. My goal is to work as hard as possible and win a starting spot. I think I'll adjust quickly to the position change. Hopefully, I'll still get a chance to rush the quarterback because that's what I love to do coming off the edge."

Moore visited Manhattan January 5th and saw the 'Cats huge 4OT win over Texas ATM. At Skyline he was a two-time All-District (Texas 5A Region II-District 9) selection and All-Dallas metro as a senior.
