Coach Spotlight: Jordan Willis
"Jordan has only played for one year," said Severino. "In that year he's done real well, but he's got a long way to go. With all of his physical tools, like his length, speed, and strength, he projects to just keep getting better and better. It may take a couple of seasons, but I think he'll be one terrific college player. Kansas State really liked his physical play."
Jordan Willis, 6-foot-5, 225-pounds, came into Rockhurst the first semester of his sophomore year.
"He was a great pass rusher coming off the edge this season," Severino said. "Jordan made some big sacks for us in key third down situations. Rushing the quarterback was mainly all he did. He's got a ton of upside, but a lot of room to grow and develop as a player."
Committing early is an increasing trend these days in recruiting. A talent like Willis will certainly have other teams trying to get involved.
"We're all just tickled to death about Jordan committing to a great program like Kansas State," said Severino. "It's still pretty early though. Signing day for his class is a long time from now. Kansas State understands that, and if he ends up going there a year from now that'll be nice.
"Jordan is a tremendous young man. He's a high character guy with good academics. He's the kind of guy Bill Snyder likes to recruit."
Coming off a state championship year, the Rockhurst Hawklets went 10-2 on the season in 2011. They advanced to the Missouri Class 6 Quarterfinals where they were defeated by Blue Springs South.
Willis became the second member of the Kansas State recruiting class of 2013. Tanner Wood, a linebacker from Conway Springs, Kan., committed to the Wildcat program last June.
