Kansas State Picked Sixth

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Although the Wildcats have been there before and know the role far too well, Kansas State was ranked sixth in the Big 12's media preseason football poll.

Sometimes it seems that no matter how many times you prove the pundits wrong, there are those who simply do not want to believe. And so it is again this year with some of the Big 12 media getting together to vote on who they feel will win the Big 12 this year and rank the remaining teams.

With new members TCU and West Virginia officially in the Big 12 Conference fold, it was the Oklahoma Sooners who took top billing this year - taking in 32 out of 41 first place votes. The Sooners have won a league - high seven Big 12 conference championships and are the front runner to win this again this year.

West Virginia was picked to finish second this year with seven first - place votes. The mountainers will spot a high octane offense with Heisman Candidate Quarterback Geno Smith running the show.

Despite K-State beating Texas last year in their own stadium, the media picked the 'Horns to finish ahead of the 'Cats with the third pick.
