Dakota Austin could be on the verge of a Kansas State offer. An offer from Oklahoma could come as well. If one of those schools were to extend an offer to the 5-foot-11, 173-pound cornerback from Lancaster, Texas, he had an easy decision to make. If both were to offer, he would be torn. As it stands now, he's prepared to begin making visits while he waits on a decision from the coaching staff.
"I just spoke to Joe Gordon the other night," said Dakota Austin on Kansas State's recruiting efforts. "They just offered a JuCo corner, so I'm not sure about an offer, but I'm still hoping it comes. I've been talking to Mike Stoops at Oklahoma. They're my top two schools and I'd probably commit on the spot if either one were to offer me. I'm setting up my official visits though. I'll be taking one to UNLV. Texas Tech just offered and I'll probably set something up with them."
Lancaster, located in the Best Southwest area of Dallas, offers some of the nation's best high school football. Austin's team, the Tigers, are currently 7-0 in Texas District 15/4A.
"We have an extraordinary amount of talent this year," Austin stated. "If we all play together as one, we can do something special with this team. I'm a leader by example. We have a lot of youngsters in big roles so I'm trying to show them how to get it done. I play cornerback and bandit, like Tyrann Mathieu. I'm averaging five tackles-a-game with two picks. In the off-season, I worked on getting stronger which has given me a lot more confidence this year overall."
Austin also hold offers from Indiana, Tulsa, Utah State, and UTEP. He says due to his team's success, he'll likely take his official visits after the season, but would like to take all five of them. This Friday the Tigers travel to Ellis County to take on Red Oak in District play.
