Date: Aug 20, 2003 has joined Publishing to acquire Purple Pride Magazine, and will re-launch the magazine in September of 2003.

Purple Pride Magazine has long provided Wildcat fans with the very best in Kansas State sports coverage. In keeping with that tradition of excellence, Purple Pride Magazine has combined with one of the most passionate Internet communities covering Kansas State Athletics,, to bring Wildcat fans unparalleled coverage.

Publishers Sean Kelly, John Rodriguez, Ben Stamey and Greg Doering plan to continue the in-depth reporting of KSU sports through The NEW & IMPROVED Purple Pride Magazine, and bring fans closer to the action than ever before. Purple Pride Magazine will now offer the highest quality in design, feature stories, personality profiles, in-depth analysis and recruiting information on a monthly basis.

"We envision Purple Pride Magazine complementing the KSU coverage provided on the website, which serves as the premier source for accurate, timely information on Wildcat athletics and recruiting as well as a gathering place for Kansas State fans to engage in intelligent conversation about the team and school they love," said Kelly. "Having a monthly magazine gives us the opportunity to provide more detailed and in-depth analysis of the Wildcat athletic program than ever before."

Jim Heckman, CEO of Publishing, agrees The NEW & IMPROVED Purple Pride Magazine represents the future of college team sports publishing.

"The Internet has completely changed the team publishing business forever. It's obvious to me the weekly tabloids are now entirely obsolete. The Internet, on the other hand, offers timely information by the hour but nobody wants to read a 2,000-word article on his or her computer. The combination of monthly magazine and daily online content is the ultimate package for the ultimate Kansas State fan and we're thrilled to be partnered with the team at to offer this great product."

Recruiting will be an area of emphasis, both on the website and in the magazine, and will feature regular contributions from regional and national experts, Jamie Newberg , Dave Telep, Josh Clark and David Garvin. They will cover key football and basketball camps around the nation and in the region and will provide special reports on prospects.

The website is also part of exclusive Scout Database, which is the most comprehensive recruiting tracking tool in existence today. The Scout Database allows users to search for both football and basketball recruits using several different criteria. It is an excellent resource and tool in finding all information on KSU recruits quickly and easily. When the recruiting season gets underway, will provide all the latest in news, commitments and updates on recruits and their visits, while Purple Pride Magazine will summarize and rank the new Wildcats against the competition in our March issue, The Purple Pride Recruiting Yearbook.

"The acquisition of Purple Pride Magazine accomplished two things. First, it brought the magazine back to its roots in Manhattan, where it belongs. Second, it solidified our position as the market leader in unofficial sports information for KSU fans," stated Stamey. "We made this bold move because we believe there has never been a better time to be a Wildcat fan."

Purple Pride Magazine will debut in September 2003 and will be published on a monthly basis ten times per year. Yearly subscriptions will sell for $44.95 and will begin with a special reduced rate of $39.95 for orders placed online.
