Phillip Mbakogu still is not saying much about his recruiting process right now keeping his cards very close to the vest- but has visited one school and plans to visit more.

The stats on this five-star defensive end from Hayward, California go 6'4, 250 pounds and a 5.0 flat in the 40. Phillip told us he has already visited Notre Dame on October 17, but has serious interest in Kansas State, Oklahoma, LSU, California, and Washington State right now. The list of schools recruiting Mbakogu grows even more past the first five listed as Phillip said he also "likes Nebraska, Colorado, and Oklahoma State," while not naming a top five or favorite at this time.

Mbakogu can play a couple different spots on the Defensive Line and it is his athleticism, both as a run-stopper and an aggressive pass rusher, that has Wildcat offensive coordinator Greg Peterson hot on his trail, speaking at least once a week.

But despite that, the 6-foot-3 250 pound standout, who also plays offensive guard in high school, this blue chipper says he doesn't plan to schedule anymore visits until after his season is over.

"I haven't done much so far because we're still in my season here," he said. "When the season's over, I'll do more. Our playoff games are on Saturday's right now, so it makes it hard." In talking with Phillip, he seems intent on finishing up his senior year and then turning his concentration to recruiting.

Mbakogu, who has 17 sacks this season, including a staggering six in one game, said his Notre Dame visit lived up to everything he thought it would be.

"It was real cool there," he said. "I really liked the school, the campus, and the coaches. It has a real good educational base there. I'm going to be looking at all the same things at each school. I want to make sure I make the right decision."

As for Kansas State, it is K-State's tradition of great defenses each and every year continues to lure Mbakogu's interest to the Wildcats.

"Every year they're good on defense," he said. "They always seem to have someone to step in and play. It's just a good all-round school, both academics and athletics." We will be tracking Phillip's recruiting throughout.
