Texas Native Still Likes K-State, But Lists Others

Texas linebacker Ben Hixson hasn't scheduled any visits yet, but has named some favorites, including several Big 12 programs.

After attending its summer camp, linebacker and Texas native Ben Hixson isn't ready just yet to put Kansas State high atop his list.

Hixson, a 6-1 215 pound speed defender with a 4.65 40-time, has Oklahoma State, SMU, Baylor, and Texas A&M high on his list, while still listing the Wildcats as a possibility. However, no offers have been extended at this time.

"There's a chance I could still visit K-State," he said. "I haven't done much yet with any of my visits because we're still playing my season. But I do like their coaches. Coach Bielema is a great coach and I like their stadium. It's a good overall school."

But it's an understatement to say Hixson's high school team is just still in its season. Carroll High School is currently 11-0 on the season and riding a 27-game win streak dating back to two years ago, while playing in Texas' largest athletic class.

"I want to finish my season strong here, so I haven't given a lot of thought to the recruiting process yet," he said. "I plan to take my visits after the season and right now, I'm not sure where I'll visit either."

This past summer at the College Station 7-on-7, Hixson really opened some eyes at his position. As TheInsiders.com has previously reported, Hixson's ability to cover as a linebacker was quite impressive, some saying that he possesses the ability to cover man-to-man with receivers and tight ends.

Hixson doesn't rule out that he'll make a quick decision once he starts visiting, so scheduling one of his first visits to Manhattan may be key for the Wildcats.

"If I like the school a lot, I may not take all my visits," he said. "I want to make sure I make the right decision, but if I fall in love with the school, I might make the decision then."
