Roberson questioned amid sexual assault allegation

Record-setting Wildcat quarterback questioned by authorities in sexual assault case.

According to the Paradise Valley Police Department, a report came in shortly after 4:30 a.m. Jan. 1 from a female alumnus of Kansas State which indicated a member of the football team sexually assaulted her at the team's Scottsdale Plaza Resort headquarters. Media reports have linked Wildcat Ell Roberson to the on-going investigation.

Roberson and the Wildcats are scheduled to play Ohio State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2 in Tempe, Ariz. It marks the Cats' first trip to the Bowl Championship Series, after Kansas State upset Oklahoma 35-7 to win the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 6, 2003. Redshirt freshman Dylan Meier is listed behind Roberson on the two-deep depth chart released on Dec. 23. reports Lt. Ron Warner of the PVPD said no charges have been filed and Roberson was not arrested. He was "very cooperative" and was released from custody around 2 p.m. local time.

A statement from Kansas State Athletics Director Tim Weiser is expected this evening, and it is unclear on Roberson's status for the Fiesta Bowl.
