Road woes continue

Kansas State hasn't won on the road for, well, a while, but nowhere have the Wildcats been more futile than Columbia, where Missouri wrapped up its 20th-straight home win over the Cats, 62-53.

Missouri, picked in the top five in the nation by most preseason organizations, had stumbled into the game coming off a 13-point loss to Colorado. But the Tigers (9-8, 4-3 in the Big 12) used a 12-1 run late in the game to break a 34-34 tie with 12:18 to play in the second half.

Jarrett Hart led the Cats (9-8, 1-5) with a career-best 20 points, but was the only Kansas State player to score in double-figures. Hart also had six rebounds while playing a game-high 34 minutes.

Thomas Gardner had 16 points and six boards for Missouri, making up for off-games from Arthur Johnson and Ricky Paulding, the Tigers' top two scorers. Johnson finished with 13 points and seven rebounds while Paulding, who had been averaging 15.9 points per game, was held to 9 points on 1-of-8 three-point shooting.

The Tigers were also playing without sixth-man Linas Kleiza, who seperated a shoulder against Colorado, and junior college transfer Randy Pulley, who Coach Quinn Snyder suspended for skipping practice on Friday.

Missouri opened a nine point lead early in the first half, but the Wildcats were resilient behind the three-point shooting of Hart. His buzzer-beating 18-foot jumpshot closed the Cats to within two at halftime.
