Iowa State was leading 40-33 early in the second half and seemed to be in control with Kansas State (16-3, 7-1 Big 12) struggling on offense.
But the Wildcats turned up their defense, holding Iowa State (10-9, 3-5) to one field goal the rest of the way, and McIntyre and fellow freshman Claire Coggins revived the offense.
McIntyre, the shortest player on the floor at 5-foot-5, converted a three-point play off a layup and Coggins followed with a 3-pointer to give Kansas State a 47-42 lead. After Ohlde sank two free throws, McIntyre finished the run with a 3-pointer, a free throw and another 3 on a pass from Ohlde.
That made it 56-42 with 4:25 left and finished off the Cyclones, who went 7:29 without scoring and 13:01 without a basket. Unable to get the ball inside, Iowa State resorted to casting up shots from the perimeter.
Kendra Wecker added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Kansas State, while Megan Mahoney had 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Iowa State focused on Laurie Koehn with its box-and-one defense, guarding her man-to-man and playing zone with its four other players. Koehn, averaging 14.8 points, didn't score until making a layup with 1:28 left.
Katie Robinette led Iowa State with 12 points and Anne O'Neil scored 10. The Cyclones finished with more turnovers (17) than field goals (14).
Kansas State's offensive struggles enabled Iowa State to stay in the game despite the Cyclones' less-than-stellar play.
O'Neil scored over McIntyre at the halftime buzzer to tie it at 27, and the Cyclones started strong in the second half as Kansas State missed six of its first seven shots. Erica Junod's 3-pointer gave Iowa State a 38-33 lead and O'Neil's two free throws put the Cyclones up by seven.
Mahoney then hit a 3, her only basket of the night, and the momentum turned.
