Lock down corner from Nebraska
Robert Rands can run with the best of them and out jump the rest of them. His 4.67 time is deceiving because it's electronic. His 39.5 vertical jump is simply incredible. Robert Rands athletic skills are undeniable. He runs a 4.67 40-yard dash, a 39.5 inch vertical jump and also competes at a high level in track. His best event is the long jump where his best last year is 22-feet and 8.75 inches. He will also run the first leg on the 4x100 and will also compete in the 100 meter this year. Last season Rands was dominant on the gridiron. As a running back he gained 1269 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a kick returner he averaged over 25 yards per return with six returns and 153 yards. As a cornerback he tallied 38 tackles, one for loss and one interception. The truth is team's just don't throw his way. As a junior he was an All-State, All-Metro and an All-District selection as a defensive back. The star from Bellevue East High School in Bellevue, Neb. is still waiting for his first offer, but is receiving a lot of mail. "I'm getting mail from Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Vanderbilt. I would say that I am receiving the most mail from Nebraska right now." As a defensive back Rands claims that his strengths are his speed and his vertical jump. He is able to run with all of the opposing teams wide receivers and what he loses to taller receivers he makes up with his eye-popping 39.5 inch vertical jump. "My 40 time was actually electronically done at my high school just recently. I ran a 4.7 electronic 40 at Nebraska's camp last summer." Rands was unable to attend Junior Day in Lincoln this weekend because it was supposed to be the first track meet of the year for him. He will be in Lincoln soon anyway. "I was supposed to have a track meet this weekend. It was cancelled though. I was asked to attend the spring game because I was going to miss the Junior Day so I will be there for that." "I will also be attending the Nebraska camp for sure. As for other camps I just don't know. I will have to talk about that with my parents."
