Cats Pick up Commit
Manhattan---Welcome the newest Wildcat to the Jim Woolridge Basketball Family- Northeastern Oklahoma A&M combo guard Fred Peete.
Fred Peete, a 6-4 shooting guard from Northeast Oklahoma (OK) CC, is bound for Kansas State, according to sources close to the program and his College Basketball Coach.
With an extra scholarship to give, Coach Woolridge targeted one of the hottest junior college prospects this spring. Peete who hails from Memphis, Tennessee where he attended Pullman High.
Peete picked the Wildcats over Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Mew Mexico State and will have three years of eligibility remaining. He averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds and four assists per game. Peete averaged 27.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as a high school senior and was named first team all-state.
Peete visited Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and New Mexico before deciding on the Wildcats.
Peete, who averaged 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals as a sophomore describes his game: "I can play point and I like to play point, but I can play the off-guard as well. I think I have a versatile game and I like to shoot the jumper, but I think I can get to the hole a well. I shot 37 percent from 3-point range this year."
Peete projects as a shooting/point guard for the Cats and will be looked at early to contribute minutes.
