Shaun Dewitty is a name most recruiting fans already know. And if you do not already know that name- no better time then the present as this Running Back from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs is quickly moving up the charts and gaining the attention of coaches around the country. Having already tripped to Manhattan on an unofficial visit with his father for the Spring Game, this recent transplant from St.Louis came away impressed with the Wildcats:" They are coming along and looked really good to me. I like their offense. I did not know much about them before I went down there. They had about 50 recruits there."

The 6-2, 185-pound RB has a tremendous amount of power and speed. Asked to describe his game, Shaun said :"I like contact and making people miss. I can either run around you or I can run over you. I am a patient back and will wait for holes to open."

Coach Peterson is recruiting Dewitty for the Cats and Shaun says that the Cats will "pretty much" be assured a official visit this season. Summer does not mean time-off for this recruit:" I am going to go to the Nike Camp in Georgia and maybe go to a couple others."

As for his favorites, the blue-chipper does have a couple schools that stand out right now: " I am getting a lot of mail and stuff from lots of schools, pretty much everywhere right now." And his top five? (in the order listed) - " I like Kansas State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Colorado and probably Kansas."

Shaun has only lived in Colorado Springs for about a year. Asked if he would like to stay in-state:" It really does not matter to me, I am pretty much open right now. I am going to look around but I would not mind going out of state. I just want to find the right place for me. It does not matter to me."

Having only lived in Colorado Springs now for a year, I got the feeling in talking with Shaun that he is looking to leave the state. As for making a selection, don't look for a decision anytime soon:" I am going to take my visits and then look at the schools but I won't make a decision anytime soon. "

Shaun admits that the staff and the players are an important factor in his decision:" I am looking for a place that I fit in and the Coaching staff will be important……I like the Kansas State coaches."

As for the Wildcats:" I did not really know much about them before my trip. My Dad and I went down there and I got to look around and see the campus for myself. It was a pretty good trip….I like their program."

That Shaun and his father took the time to come down and check out Manhattan and the Wildcat's Spring game is encouraging news for Cat fans. We will be following up this interview as Shaun's season progresses and recruiting heats up.
