Chase Daniel likes the Wildcats

Daniel, perhaps one of the most talented quarterbacks available in this class, has 10 offers so far and is waiting on more, particularly one from K-State.

The offers keep rolling in for Chase Daniel, but just not from some of the schools he's been waiting on.

Daniel, Southlake, Texas' high octane yard-producing dual-threat quarterback receives 20 letters a day and has 10 offers to far, including ones from Wisconsin, Missouri, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Colorado State, TCU, Stanford, Houston, Duke, and Texas El-Paso.

However both Kansas State and Texas haven't offered yet, two schools the 6-foot-1 210 pound Daniel has atop his early list.

"It's way too early to get worried about too much yet," said Daniel, who passed for 3,762 yards and 42 touchdowns and rushed for another 1,500 and 18 scores as a junior. "It's really wide-open for me still."

All the schools to have offered are also looking for Daniel to play baseball too. Daniel, who is set to pitch today in the playoffs, has an 8-2 record with 70 strikeouts in 60 innings this season.

But while K-State has continued to show interest, Texas may be quickly falling down the list. The Longhorns have already offered several other quarterbacks and haven't been in serious contact for some time.

"Texas may be dropping off the list for me," said Daniel, who runs a 4.50 40-yards. "It's the school I've always wanted to play for, but we're not really sure how interested they are now.

"But K-State is still in there. They've continued to show interest in me and I'm visiting them this summer for their camp."

Daniel's father, Bill, said he's not concerned about an offer coming in from K-State because he knows that K-State coach Bill Snyder likes to wait till he sees the prospects in person first.

"That's exactly right," he said. "I've heard that he likes to meet the kids, see what kind of character they have, the kind of person they are before they offer. I've been told a lot that K-State does a lot of offering at their camp, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens."

Bill Daniel also shed some light on the rumors that Chase might not be waiting till February to commit.

"We're thinking we'll have a decision by July sometime," he said. "There is no way he'll go till February. We want to visit as many as we can this summer."

Daniel's summer is shaping up to a busy one, at least June will be. The first on the list of camps is K-State on June 4, then June 6 at Oklahoma State, then back at home for a team camp, and then on the road again on the 11th at SMU. He'll visit Texas on the 13th, and wrap up at Duke on the 19th, just in time for the possible July decision.
