One of the Top 50 recruits from the state of Texas, this TE is a tremendous athlete with the size and speed to play on both offense and defense. Currently listed as one of the top three TE's in Texas, he also plays basketball and many coaches have noted his agility and athleticism is what sets him apart and puts him on another level. Rated a three star prospect by TheInsiders, Josh has come on of recent in recruiting ranks and is starting to gather a good deal of attention. With a frame that will carry more weight, Bell is still growing and at 6 foot 7 inches has college coaches excited over his potential.
"I have had a lot of schools sending me some things. I get a lot of mail."
From the small town of Hitchcock, Texas- Bell had been overlooked a bit in recruiting compared to some recruits from neighboring Houston.
"Well Hitchcock is kinda small and you got to do something out here to get noticed."
That has not slowed the recruiting process however and Kansas State is one of the teams that Josh is looking very hard at right now.
"I want to play for a national championship and eventually play for the NFL. I watch Kansas State and see them- they won the Big 12 last year."
With aspirations of eventually playing on Sundays, Bell is looking for a school with a pipeline and track record of putting players in the NFL.
"I want to go somewhere where I can play for championships and that puts players in the NFL. I want to go on to play in the NFL so I am going to be looking at that."
Currently there is a bevy of schools recruiting Josh and when asked to name his top five.
"These are not in order but my top five are UCLA, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma and Kansas State."
As for plans to attend camps this summer.
"I really do not have any plans to go to camp right now, but I would like to set up some visits. I will probably set some up before schools starts."
So where do the Cats fit in right now?
"They are up there. I have them in the top schools I am looking at right now. I have seen them play and all so I like them."
Claiming close to 20 offers right now, Josh said he is not in a rush to commit.
"I have a lot of offers. But I really just want to take my time. You know, if I went on a visit and it felt right, I could commit. But you know I want to take some trips to look at some schools."
And have the Wildcats offered?
"Yes sir, they have offered me."
And the Coach recruiting Bell for the Cats?
"Coach Peterson. I get mail from them but coach Peterson is the main one."
I asked Josh he had plans to visit Manhattan when he started scheduling visits.
"Yea I probably want to schedule them. I have not set anything up with them yet though. I just need to set up some visits and then choose on where I feel the best at."
Having the size to play DE or possibly grow into DT at the college level, most schools are recruiting Josh for the offensive side of the ball. Asked where he thought his best position and where he wanted to play in college.
" I want to stay at TE. Definitely TE. I mean I can play other spots but TE is where I want to play at."
As far as where Josh ultimately ends up
"I am not really trying to look to stay in-state, it really does not matter to me. I could leave the state."
Already qualified with a 3.6 GPA, Josh has already taken the SAT and has plans on taking the SAT again to better his score.
