DeSoto Safety Still Weighing Recruiting Options
DeSoto Safety Weighing Options
By Sean Kelly
As recruiting gets ready to start heating up again with coaches from all around the country able to start personally contacting recruits again, DeSoto High School's star Safety- Brian Jackson says he is still weighing his options.
At 6-foot-1, and currently 215 pounds with 4.55 speed in the forty, this Safety/Cornerback candidate says he spent his summer checking potential schools out and trying to narrow down his list. Labeled the "Freak" by teammates, Brian is a three star recruit with both the size and the speed that college coaches love. At 215 pounds, Brian has the physical attributes that would lend to him playing numerous positions at the college level. With is coverage skills, Jackson could easily be used as a hybrid Safety/Roving Linebacker.
As far as recruiting goes, Three schools in the Big 12 stand out for this recruit.
"I have been to see Oklahoma State and I know their coaches and some of their players up there pretty well. I already know some of the players up there so that makes it easy. I went down to Arizona too and looked at them with Coach Stoops."
Asked if he had any further plans to take any more unofficial visits, Jackson said he is basically just concentrating on his season and getting ready to play.
"Nah, I am not sure I am going to go anywhere else. Now that the season has started back up I really just want to focus all my time on that and get ready to play. We have a good team this year and with school back in I really do not have much time. I have been trying to just sit back and take my time with recruiting and see where I want to go."
Is there any one school that stands out for you right now?
"No not really. I mean there are a couple I am looking at a little stronger then others but no, not really. I mean I am looking at a couple of schools and trying to get it right as to what I want to do."
Are your top schools still the same?
"Yes. Right now I would say my favorites are still Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona and maybe Kansas State is still in there."
What about time frame for a decision?
"I am going to try and make a decision. I said that I wanted to make a decision before school started and I still think want to make it. Right now I am just trying to think about what the right place for me is."
