Cats for Cans
MANHATTAN - The Kansas State Student-Athlete Advisory Committtee (SAAC)is preparing for the 2004 "CATS FOR CANS" food drive on October 30that KSU Stadium for the Texas Tech football game. This annual food driveis made possible by student-athlete volunteer participation and benefits the Flint Hills Breadbasket.
Last year, student-athletes collected over 8,000 pounds of food and $4,000 in donations to benefit the Flint Hills Breadbasket and the Mayor's Holiday Tree Food Drive. Every year every available student-athlete makes "CATS FOR CANS" a tremendous success because "No One Should Go Hungry".
"It is a terrific opportunity for all K-State student-athletes to volunteer and work together at an event that makes a substantial impact on the Flint Hills Breadbasket and their holiday drive to feed the less fortunate in our community," said SAAC president and senior volleyball player Gabby Guerre.
During the food drive, student-athletes will walk the parking lots of KSU Stadium asking for canned goods or monetary donations for the Flint Hills Breadbasket. The event begins at 4:00 p.m., two hours before the kickoff with Texas Tech.
