Maurice Lucas: Back to the Buffs
Maurice Lucas Profile
40 time: 4.55
From: Aurora, Colorado
High School: Rangeview
After becoming the first commitment of the recruiting class, Maurice Lucas backed off and opted for Kansas State. The CU staff stayed with him and it has paid off for them as the four star d-end told the coaches yesterday that he is a Buff, again.
"I am comfortable with Colorado," said Lucas. "It is a more convenient place for me to go and it is also more convenient for my family. I called Coach Wristen Monday night to let him know. I told the Kansas State coaches and they were upset, but they understood."
Lucas is getting bigger everyday as he now stands at 6-6, 230. "The coaches want me to be around 260 for my playing weight."
CU has recruited him as a defensive end, but if he continues to grow Lucas may end up as a d-tackle. "I wouldn't really mind if that is the case," he said. "I could play there if I am better suited for it."
He was named first team all-conference as a defensive end and offensive tackle this fall. He was also named first team all-state at d-end. Rangeview finished with a 7-4 record. He is not sure what his final stats were, but believes he had a good season. Lucas carries a 3.0 core GPA and is awaiting his test scores.
He will officially visit Boulder this weekend.
