Jonathan Lewis Commitment Status

When Jonathan Lewis, Rated #19 on Scout.com's Texas Hot 100 committed to Kansas State- it boosted a critical position for the Wildcats. With rumors of other official visits planned for the near future and his commitment to the Cats in question, Coach Bob Elliott contacted Jonathan Lewis' High School Coach.

Carrollton Smith DT (and K-State commit) Jonathan Lewis, Scout.com's Texas Hot 100 #19, thought about taking a few official visits in addition to his official visit to Manhattan, scheduled for 1/14/2004. But after catching up with him tonight, he said the K-State coaches were not particularly enthused about his decision to take official visits anywhere else, save Manhattan.

"Coach Bob Elliott told my high school coach that he didn't want me to take any visits," Jonathan Lewis revealed. "And my coach told me maybe I shouldn't."

Upon closer inspection, the 4-star DL prospect added, "(The Wildcats) were the first ones to offer me, stuck with me through my injury, and so I'm only going to take one official visit and that's to K-State."

"I just want to go there (K-State)," Lewis continued. "No need in playing around and visiting, or anything."

All remaining official visit plans have since been cancelled.

As a result, we have made a change in his commitment status.

He is now listed as a solid verbal to Kansas State.

This is very good news for Wildcat fans who have seen the Cats lose other recruits at the DE position. The Cat Staff need be congratulated for shoring up a critical need at Defensive End and bringing Jonathan Lewis back into the fold.
