Wildcats Lead for Texas Running Back

This Lonestar State running back says the Wildcats are currently his favorite team heading into signing day.

The Lonestar state is know for be able to produce quality running backs on a yearly basis and Deon Wallace is next in line to make his mark.

Rated as one of the top 5 running backs in the state of Texas, Worthing High School's Deon Wallace says that Kansas State is currently is favorite.

"Right now K-State is my favorite. I am looking at some other schools but they are up there. Yea they are my top school right now," said Wallace.

Having already tripped to Manhattan during one of K-State's biggest recruiting weekends, Wallace says the trip is what moved the Cats up his list.

"Yea, everything there was really good. I liked the town and the coaches and that right there is what put them up top I guess. I mean I want to take some other trips but that put them (K-State) up top."

Wallace is a little on the small side, coming in at a hair under 5-foot-8 and around 175 pounds. An elusive runner in the open field and suprisingly strong for his small stature, Wallace is fast enough to take the ball the distance with 4.5 speed.

In terms of timing, Wallace says he would like to take his time and talk with his parents before making any decision.

"Right now I am not going to do anything probably until signing day. I mean I want to take my time and wait."

In terms of recruiting, Wallace says the Cats have offered and let him know they want him.

"Oh yea they have offered me and they have just told me they are waiting on me and what I am going to do. Like I said I will probably wait until signing day and check some things out and then make my decision. K-State is my favorite though," said Wallace.

We will be checking back with this recruit as signing day approaches and updating any new developments.
