The Kansas State coaching staff is looking to the state of Florida and Tallahassee Lincoln High School cornerback, Pat Austin. Austin a 6-foot-0 and 170 pound cornerback told KStateFans that his coaches have been talking to Kansas State about bringing him in for a visit.
"Right now my coaches are trying to put that visit together for me. I know that I am scheduled to go to Iowa State probably this next week and then after that I think they are trying to set Kansas State," said Austin.
Projected as a cornerback at the next level, Austin says some schools are recruiting him for different positions.
"Well some schools are recruiting me as an athlete and some are recruiting my strictly to play corner for them. I think my spot in college will probably cornerback. I like the pressure of being out there and I am the type of player who you can leave alone out there and not worry about anything."
Currently looking at Kansas State, Iowa State and Syracuse, Austin says he really does not have a favorite right now but is looking to take his visits and then decide.
"Right now I really do not know that much about some of the schools. I really just want to take my visits out there, gets with my coaches and find out where I would fit best and then make a decision. I want to get out there and then check things out then make a decision from there."
Although no visit has been solidified, Austin thinks he is looking at two weekends from now to make his official visit to Manhattan.
"I really have to get with my coaches on this. They are trying to set everything up for me and Kansas State is definitely somewhere I want to go check out. I think probably like in two weekends. That's probably when I will go out there but I still got to check out Iowa State" said Austin.
KStateFans has learned that one thing that might hinder a trip to Manhattan is the academic status of Austin. Austin was set to make a visit to Iowa State last weekend but did not make the trip due to his academics situation. Currently lacking the appropriate test score needed to be qualified, many schools are taking a wait and see approach with this talented defensive back.
