First and foremost Zac Robinson is a very talented football player. That said he is a quarterback all the way and while other schools have recruited him to play positions other then QB, Robinson took the reins at quarterback this year for Chatfield and has shown why he may be one of the best Big 12 prospects at the quarterback position. Not recruited heavily at the quarterback position originally because he played WR previously, quarterback is the position this talented recruit best projects at – as well as where his heart lies.
The big question on everyone's mind seems to be whether or not Zac is still committed to play for Kansas State? To end some of the rumors that have been swirling about, Purple Pride had the chance to speak with Zac's mother this week to get an update on the talented Mr. Robinson.
In a nutshell Wildcat Nation- take a deep breathe in and then try and relax. The message being delivered is unless you hear otherwise; Zac is committed to the Cat and is coming to Manhattan to play for Kansas State. At this point in time, there are a great many schools that have recently offered him a scholarship and are trying to get into the race for his signature late but it has not gone unnoticed that K-State was one of the first teams to recruit Zac and has been with him all along.
Oklahoma State- give credit where credit is due, Oklahoma State has called Zac throughout the recruiting process and never given up on him- even after Zac had committed to the Cats. This past weekend he took an official visit to OSU and from all that I have heard, the trip went well. As many know Zac's mother is an OSU grad but perhaps many do not know his father is an OU grad. Given the rumors swirling, I would like to note that the Robinson parents have left the decision on where to attend up to Zac. I am sure there will be sagely advice given should he need it, but the Robinson's have pretty much left the decision of which school to attend up to their son and basically would just like to see him happy wherever he chooses.
I was the first person to speak with Zac when he first became interested in K-State and I can tell you that you will not find a more humble young man. There will be no press conference or hoopla to announce a decision. Coach Miller made an in-house visit this week following his trip to OSU and there has been no drop off in his recruitment. Zac remains an important part of this year's recruiting class and there has been nothing said that would indicate a change of decision.
Robinson attended the Oklahoma football camps four years in a row, he also attended the Oklahoma State camp and although there was interest, the Pokes did not offer him a scholarship. Zac then attended the Kansas State camp and was offered a scholarship shortly after the camp. The Robinson family thinks very highly of the Wildcat coaching staff and is comfortable handing their son off to Coach Snyder, knowing he will be well looked after. Kansas State has been there all along with Zac throughout his recruitment and although you cannot overlook OSU, there is a great deal of respect for the coaching staff and how Kansas State has handled his recruitment.
So there you have it, take a deep breathe in Wildcat Nation ---until you hear differently, Zac is a Cat.
