Rodney Allen Set to announce Decision

Having tripped to Manhattan the weekend before and Lawrence this weekend, Rodney Allen has made a decision. The Garden City Defensive Tackle is set to publicly announce his commitment decision tomorrow.

Sometimes it all comes down to timing and so it was with Garden City Jr. College's Rodney Allen. Rated two stars by Scout.com, this defensive tackle originally from Coral Gables, Florida choose Central Florida coming out of Coral Gables High School.

A talented DT with a 6-foot-3 frame and 4.8 speed in the forty, Rodney had all but made his decision. Allen tripped to Manhattan roughly a week ago and following his visit, Kansas State was in the driver's seat for the DT's signature.

"I had a good trip there (Manhattan) and I was about to sign to K-State. I mean I was ready to commit to them. You know I was serious that and ready to sign," said Allen.

That was before the Kansas coaches paid a visit to Allen and asked him to make a final trip to Lawrence- which he took this weekend.

"I was about to sign with Kansas State and they (KU coaches) asked me to just, check it out and everything, you know take a trip there and I was all ready to have it over," said Allen.

Following his trip to Kansas this weekend, Allen let KStateFans know he had a change of heart.

"Man, I am not going to lie to you. This trip was very very good. Man I am glad I went. I enjoyed myself. Yea I loved that trip – it was a good blessing for me. I am going to Kansas."

In terms of when he knew that he had changed his mind, Allen says he left campus knowing that he would sign with the Jayhawks.

"When I was in the airport and that is when. I was like I enjoyed it too much, that is where I have to go. Man I have to go here, this trip was just too good. I felt so calm there. I mean it was just a good place."

In terms of announcing, Allen says he has not called the respective coaching staffs to let them know of his intentions.

"No, I have not called anyone yet. I am going to give them all a call tomorrow and let them know."

In regards to playing time for the Jayhawks, Allen feels he will be able to immediately make an impact on the depth chart and challenge for playing time.

"I think I can go in there and play. Honestly, I believe I can just tear it up there."
