Visiting Kansas State this Weekend

Gary Chandler will make his official visit to Manhattan this weekend. Looking for depth at the RB and position left vacated by Darren Sproles, K-State looks to bring in in-state RB/DB-- Gary Chandler this weekend.

Gary Chandler Profile

The Kansas State Wildcats continue to leave the door open for some late additions to their Class of 2005. One of those options is Gary Chandler, a recruit has been forgotten due to academics after originally receiving an offer from Kansas.

"My grades have scared some programs away, and Kansas State is the only school currently talking to me," said Chandler. "I scored a 16 on the ACT on my first attempt, and have to score higher when I take it again on Feburary 12th."

Chandler will make an official visit this weekend to Manhattan.

"Kansas State told me there is definitely interest if they are willing to bring me in for a visit. I think if I earn a high enough test score that I will receive an offer," stated Chandler.

Unlike what many have believed, though, Chandler is being recruited by the Wildcats on the defensive side of the ball.

"Kansas State is recruiting me to play free safety. Coach (Bob) Elliot has even told me I may play some cornerback. A lot of people think I'm better on defense than offense, and it doesn't bother me at all to play either position. I had 98 tackles and two interceptions this fall while playing free safety," said Chandler.

As a running back this fall, he recorded 1900 yards and 28 TD's.
