DT- Willie Williams Returns from Manhattan

With less then a couple days to go until signing day, Kansas State played host to a select few recruits this weekend, one of them monster DT- Willie Williams from Hutchinson Jr. College.

The race for some for the most talented High School signatures has rounded the corner and is heading for home. Signing Day, Wednesday the 2nd of February is just around the corner and on the final weekend that college coaching staffs are allowed contact with potential recruits; Kansas State hosted a select few this weekend for official visits. Among them was Hutchinson JUCO star Defensive Tackle- Willie Williams.

"Yes sir I just got back from my trip and right now I am just trying to think about everything," Williams told KStateFans.

Colleges around the country are making final pushes and looking to add finishing touches on recruiting classes before the dead period starts in which coaches are not allowed contact with the recruits. This was the final weekend for some programs to make impressions on recruits and bring them in for visits.

Willie Williams, who is originally from Dearing, Georgia---committed to the Pokes of Oklahoma State in the early summer, has since opened his recruiting up and is now looking at other schools.

"Yes sir, I am still trying to look around. I got it narrowed down I think and they (K-State) got some real coaches up there- they are not fake. They are going to be honest with if you mess up and they are going tell you about it and I kind of like that," said Williams.

"They showed me. I thought K-State was not as good a program as I thought it was but my visit up there really changed my mind."

In terms of teams right now, Willie says that he will make his decision on signing day but there is a team right now that leads for his signature.

"Well, I am going to be honest with you. Troy State is probably my leader right now but Kansas State is up there now. I mean Troy State probably is my leader but my trip really changed some things," said the talented Jr. College DT directly following his visit to Manhattan this weekend.

At 6-foot-4 and a little over 300 pounds with sub 5.0 forty speed, Williams came into the recruiting picture late for the Wildcats, but this trip made an impression on the talented DT. Hosted by Quintin Echols this weekend, Willie said he saw another recruit he is used to seeing on the football field.

"Yea, Steve (Burch) was there too. We got together and just hung out his weekend. I think he would be a big asset them (for K-State)."

Currently listing Troy State as his current favorite, Willie said that the K-State coaches said there is a very good opportunity for him to come in and gain playing time and that is something that he embraces.

"I am not going to say that Kansas State pulled ahead and they showed me a good enough time that if I really wanted to go there, I think I would fit in perfect. Yes, sir. The coaches said that if I were to come there and prove myself in camp that I would have a good possibility of playing."

As mentioned, Williams is originally from Georgia and although he has it down to Kansas State and Troy State, he said he is going to take a little time to speak with his parents, get their opinion and feedback and then make a decision.

"Yes sir, I have it down to those two schools and that is why I want to wait until signing day. I really want to talk to my mother and my father a lot because they really have a big impact on me and where I am going to go," said Williams.
