"Jermaine is just a special kind of player and we are hoping to build on that here (at Garden City). One thing I have been telling these guys is lets not worry about where you are going to go after Garden City, lets worry about what we can do here. But I can tell you Jermaine is going to be heavily pursued and is already starting to get attention," Coach Eckert told KStateFans.
At 6-foot even and 190 pounds, Jermaine Barnett is already being pursued by a host of Big 12 schools, although there is one dream school that sticks out for Jermaine.
Asked who his favorite is currently, Barnett laughed and said he has always had one dream school that stood out for him. Hailing from Great Bend, KS, Jermaine says he would like to go to Auburn.
"My favorites right now are K-State, Kansas and Wyoming but if I could go anywhere, man its gonna be Auburn. Not sure what's up with that I just have always loved Auburn," said the touted WR.
Following the recruiting of new Wildcat Justin McKinney, this talented WR with consistent 4.4 – 4.5 speed says that he would like to play with Justin one day if it worked out.
"Yea, I saw what happened this year and all with Justin and he and I are pretty close so I would definitely like to check out what happens there. You know if it were right, I would like to play with him you know but that is a ways off."
Barnett who plays primarily WR for Garden City did line up in the defensive backfield for a select few plays last year- although he coach says his future is at WR.
"He is just too talented for us not line up out there at receiver," said Coach Eckert.
