Coach Prince declines Bowl Invitation

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head football coach Ron Prince announced Thursday that he has declined an invitation from the University of Virginia to coach in the Cavaliers' upcoming bowl game.

"Due to the unbelievable time constraints of serving as K-State's head football coach and my new responsibilities and allegiances to Kansas State University, I must at this time graciously decline Virginia's generous offer to coach in the Music City Bowl," said Prince, who was named the Wildcats' 33rd head football coach on Monday. "Though I would have cherished the opportunity to coach with my former colleagues and student-athletes at Virginia one final time, I feel it is neither feasible nor proper for me to accept such an honor at this time."

Virginia finished its 2005 regular season with a 6-5 overall record and will play in its fourth straight bowl game when the Cavaliers square off with Minnesota in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Presented by Bridgestone at The Coliseum in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 30.
