Patton excited after Trip to Manhattan

Prior to his trip this weekend to Manhattan, Dallas (Texas) W.T. White star and Kansas State commit Leon Patton said that he would be taking a "wait and see" approach.

With a new coaching staff in place, Leon Patton made a visit to Manhattan this weekend to meet the new staff and get a feel for where he fit in the Wildcats plans – a visit well spent.

"The visit went great. I went down there and got a chance to speak with the coaches and that meant a lot to me," Patton told KStateFans.

"The trip was good for me because I got to meet a lot of the players and talk to them and I also got to meet with the coaches and just talk about what was going on and what was happening within the program. Just talking to the players and hearing what they thought about everything," said the 5-foot-7 and 180 pound athlete from Dallas.

New Wildcat Head coach Ron prince made a visit to Dallas White HS to speak with Leon prior to his visit this weekend, something that did not escape notice.

"Coach Prince came by my high school so this is not the first time I met him. That meant a lot right there. But being able to talk to him and just talk to all the other coaches was good. They had a lot of good stuff to tell me about what is going to be happening and what their plans are. They know what they are going to try and do and what they want to do. Right now I can't wait to get there. Just talking to them and knowing what they have planned, I want to be a part of that. I am staying with Kansas State," said Patton.

Before making the trip, Patton had been getting calls from Baylor and Arkansas.

"I am not taking any more visits. I am sticking with Kansas State," said Patton.

Having had a chance to meet Coach Prince prior to his visit, Patton says that he is impressed with the new Head Coach and his staff.

"I met with Coach Prince before the visit. I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches there and I was impressed. Coach Prince is going to be a good coach there and the other coaches he has, they got me excited. They are going to do some good things with the program and I am excited to be part of that. "

The running back finished the season with 169 carries for 1,309 yards and 11 touchdowns. Patton also had 20 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

He is fully qualified with a 2.9 core GPA and scored an 880 on the SAT.
