I would like to start out by saying that I am officially transferring from Kansas State University. I will be heading back towards the west coast to continue my education, goals and dreams. At this time, I have not contacted any schools or coaches and have no idea where I will be attending college in the fall. Most of my prior scholarship offers were from the Pac 10, Mountain West and WAC conferences. In the very near future I will be in contact with these universities and coaches to discuss my future.
A year ago, Bill Snyder and Matt Miller brought me out to Manhattan to pursue my education and play football. The offensive scheme, the big 12 competition, small town atmosphere and wonderful fan support was too hard to pass up. I have enjoyed the past year here at Kansas State University. I have met many wonderful people and consider them all friends.
Dylan Meier is one friend I will always admire and look up to. When I first got here he befriended me and took me under his wing. He helped me read defenses and taught me the ins and outs of the offense. Along with Dylan, I have made many other life-long friends that I hope to stay in touch with and wish them the best.
I had a very productive freshman year both on and off the field at KSU. I will take this experience with me as I continue to work towards my goals.
My decision to transfer was not a spur of the moment decision. In fact, the day Bill Snyder announced his retirement was the day I first thought about leaving. My parents encouraged me to continue through fall and spring ball before I made any decision. There are several reasons why I am transferring. The main reasons for my transfer are:
1. Coach Snyder & his staff's departure.
2. My desire to be closer to home. (Several schools out west run KSU'S new offense.)
In closing, I would like to thank the rabid football fans at KSU. They have always been generous and kind to me and I will never forget that.
Sincerely, Kevin Lopina
