Cats for Cans Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State Athletics Department will hold its 11th-annual Cats for Cans food drive during Saturday's football game vs. Nebraska. Fans are being encouraged to help the K-State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee fight hunger in Manhattan by participating in the annual food drive by bringing canned food or cash donations to the game.

Wildcat student-athletes will begin collecting donations two hours prior to the 6:10 p.m. kickoff in the parking lot and at the stadium entrances.

All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Flint Hills Breadbasket. The Flint Hills Breadbasket assists in providing meals for over 1,000 families throughout Manhattan and the surrounding area.

Last year, Kansas State student-athletes collected 3,666 pounds of canned food and monetary donations totaling $10,616.

Cats for Cans is just one of the many community service projects that allow Kansas State student-athletes to give back to their community in a positive and influential way.
