"I just committed to K-State today," said Chandler, currently at Coffeyville Community College. "Coach Prince came down here today, so I was able to talk to him. He sounded really excited about my decision."

The 5-10, 180-pound prospect seriously considered Nebraska, but several factors played into his decision.

"I was looking at Nebraska and K-State, but Nebraska had an issue with my transcript. They were going to have a problem with the admissions department getting me in mid-year, so that made my decision a lot easier. I wanted to be able to go somewhere in January.

"I was at K-State for their game against Texas and I had a great time. The coaching staff and the players were great to be around. I could tell they're like one big family and I can't wait to be a part of that."

Chandler runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and was one of the most athletic prospects available from the junior college ranks. This past season at Coffeyville he recorded 70 tackles, two tackles for loss and had three forced fumbles. He plans on playing safety next year.

"I'm going to be getting to campus in January, so I should be able to go ahead and get into some classes and start things off right. This year I improved a lot in my man coverage, and there's a lot more I can work on before next season starts. I'm looking forward to helping K-State however I can."

Chandler had also received offers from Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa State.
