"It is a big release," Ernie Pierce said. "I don't know the words exactly. This is something that a lot of people are out there to get, but very few people are able to achieve it. I feel very fortunate that I have been blessed with enough talent to have someone want me and give me a scholarship."
Pierce recorded 36 receptions for 661 yards and four touchdowns in 2006. He also returned two punts for touchdowns. He talks of his plans when he steps foot on campus.
"I am working out really hard right now. The coaches actually want me to come in and be an impact because they lost two of their top receivers. I am coming in to play," Pierce said.
"The atmosphere, the coaching staff, the players and the location of the school is why I chose Kansas State. Some people may find that kind of odd with me being from Southern California, but it is a good change for me. It gives me a chance to concentrate on school rather than the city life."
Pierce will bring another person along with him to Kansas State.
"Me and my fiancé are coming," he said. "We have been engaged for about three months. I am excited. It is a great place for us. We do not plan on getting married until we finish up school."
