Gary Chandler recorded 70 tackles, two tackles for loss and had three forced fumbles this past season. The talented playmaker talked about his decision.
"I am already on campus," Gary Chandler said. "Everything has been going smooth right now. I am just trying to get used to campus and stuff like that. It is going good."
"I committed to K-State out of high school. Once I came back down for my visit I liked it more than I did when I was in high school. Seeing that big win versus Texas and then having a chance to sit down and listen to Coach (Ron) Prince talk. I really liked it. It was a no-brainer."
Chandler will continue to play from his safety position at K-State. He talked of the benefits of playing in Juco rather than coming straight from high school.
"I think it will help me a lot," he said. "I received some great coaching when I was in junior college. I played under two defensive systems with two different coordinators. So, coming in here I kind of know a little bit of what they are talking about. Plus, I will get the chance to play besides Marcus Watts (free safety). I will get to learn some things from him also."
The 5-10 180-pound defensive back talked about his favorite part of the game.
"My run-support is good. I love hitting. I love sticking my nose into things on the field. I can cover, but I think my strongest part is my run-support," Chandler concluded.
