Cats Pursue Lonestar Lineman

Kansas State is one of the teams vying for the attention of one of the state of Texas' best Lineman in Aldine High School Daniel Campbell. The Cats have extended an offer.....

The interest in the huge Daniel Campbell continues to grow from the most prestigious programs in the country - including at least half of the teams in the Big 12 Conference alone.

Some of the things making Campbell such an attractive prospect are his surprising quickness and his ability to both run and pass block effectively. He works low to the ground and with his size and strength allowing him to often over power opposing defensive linemen.

Campbell currently bench presses 320 lbs.and squats 510, with his latest time in the 40 clocked at 5.4.

Campbell, as a junior was a first team All-District 19-5A player. He has offers from both USC and Lousiana State as well as Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Kansas State with others sure to jump in as his stock continues to rise.

We caught up with Daniel Campbell to see those schools he was interested in and recruiting him the hardest. Several different schools are on his radar at this time but Campbell has narrowed his choices to Louisiana State and USC with Kansas State currently lagging behind.

"I would say right now I'm leaning toward LSU because I liked the time I spent there on my visit," said Campbell. "It was a nice place when I was down there. I also met with the offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and he was a great guy. I want to start as a freshman and that's something I've told any school that I've talked to. I told LSU that as well and Coach Studrawa told me that if I got the work done that I needed to do, and show I'm ready then he saw no reason why I wouldn't start as during my Freshman year."

"The reason I'm considering USC is simple, its about the fact they win championships and I want to be on a team that wins. They have such a incredible tradition and I think it would be a great team to be apart of."

The Cats have already offered the big TE and look to garner an official visit from the star prospect.
