K-State Makes Good Impression on Big Target

A Big target at 6-foot-7 and 235 lbs. - This Kansas City Tight end has already taken a visit to K-State and likes what he is seeing from the Cats.

Spencer Ladner has a scholarship offer to play football at Kansas State and the Wildcats are just one of the schools this athletic tight end is considering. "I really liked my visit to K-state," said Ladner. "I like the coaching staff, and they showed me a lot of attention- singling me out several times throughout the day. I also liked the stadium and they play big time football at K-State along with having great facilities."

Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska are the other Big 12 schools offering scholarships. Nationally Washington St. Clemson, and Wisconsin have also made offers.

"I've always been a fan of Kansas because my Dad played there, and I really like Coach Blaney who's been recruiting me," Ladner told KStateFans.com. "I made my first ever trip to Missouri and I like the offense they run and the facilities they have there are the best I've seen so far."

Other schools who've spoken to Ladner but not offered a scholorship are Cal, Michigan and Oregon. "My brother (Ben Ladner) plays defensive tackle for Stanford and I interested in playing at a school in California, said Ladner. I've had a lot of contact with Oregon and Michigan is a huge football school with good academic which is important to me as well."

This athletic player benches 300 lbs. and runs a 4.7 in the 40 while possessing good hands. In his junior year Ladner had 620 yards receiving while scoring 10 touchdowns. Ladner also plays basketball at Pembrook Hill averaging earning honorable mention all-metro honors. "I'm concentrating on football but if the opportunity came up to also play basketball its something I would think about, said Ladner."
